August 22, 1989- Death of Huey P. Newton
Huey P. Newton was found dead in the streets of Oakland, California. Police found him lying in a pool of blood. A man shot him due to something that occurred during a drug deal. It was reported that Newton was trying to obtain cocaine when the man shot him. The man that killed him was Tyrone Robinson that was part of a group called Black Guerilla Family. Newton died at the age of 47 and his last words were, “You can kill my body, but you can’t kill my soul. My soul will live forever!”After, he was shot in the face two times. His legacy and accomplishments are still present today. Many of the programs he established are still very lively today.
